imasd is a graphic and communication design studio located
in Barcelona and run by Ignacio Ballesteros and Damià Mathews.

 

Ignacio Ballesteros

Graduated at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios in Zaragoza, and started working as a graphic designer in the newspaper Diario 16 de Aragon and freelancing. He then worked as assistant art director for Zaragon, one of the leading advertising agencies in Zaragoza.
In 1995 he moved to Barcelona, and after freelancing for clients such as Plaza y Janes, TVE Catalunya, Ajoblanco magazine, he joined Ediciones B as a book-cover designer. He then became art director for the publishing company Suma de Letras, where he was in charge of creating and applying the brand identity. He returned to Grupo Zeta to design the image of their pocket book collections (byblos and Zeta Bolsillo).

 

Damià Mathews

After graduating at the Art Center College of Design (Lausanne, Switzerland) he first worked as assistant art director for the magazine CO&CO and then joined Ediciones B (grupo zeta) as an Art director. He was then promoted to design director, where he was in charge of designing the book collections, overseeing the design team and redesigning and applying the corporate image for the company.
He then moved to Italy where he joined the Swatch Communication Lab in Milan as an art director, working in the development of new product launches, ad campaigns and web pages and events.
Before starting imasd he freelanced for various international companies.
